Explore the national wonders preserved at Cap Cana

Hike up our bluffs, ride your bike on the trails, open your eyes to the full garden of tropical flora bursting with colors and filling the air with sweet fragrances. That's what life is all about at Cap Cana. Our name by the way comes from the Latin word for “cape” and the word “cana,” the luxuriant tropical palm tree you'll see all over our development.

Our many miles of sandy shoreline at Cap Cana offer abundant white sands and turquoise waters. Among the waves in the distance are coral reefs. All around on shore are thick and beautiful stands of palms and other trees. Among the jungle thickets you will see fantastic orchids. Greens and yellows, reds and blues; it's a living tapestry arranged for your delight.

At Cap Cana, you are just miles away from one of the most abundant fisheries in the Caribbean as well as the heart of the largest humpback whale sanctuary in the world. And when you are staying on your property here, dozens of colorful birds will be your neighbors. Experiencing this wild wonderland is part of the joy of being an owner at Cap Cana.

We know what a precious treasure our 37,000 acres are and we are determined to preserve their natural beauties and the wildlife in the area.

To that end Cap Cana has created a low-density residential community where visitors and part-time and full-time residents will be surrounded by the natural wonders of our bluffs, beach, waterways and thick forest. Each part of our development is being carefully and meticulously done with the aid of a professional staff that fully appreciates our natural wonders.

The Dominican Republic as a whole has also set aside much of its forests and beaches for preservation. We have 16 national parks, nine natural monuments and six scientific reserves. The total number of protected areas (including panoramic routes, recreational areas and ecological corridors) is 67. All are under the control of the Dirección Nacional de Parques.
