Step 1: Choose Your Dates
Cap Cana golf is year-round, but November–April is the optimal window: dry conditions, consistent trade winds, and courses in peak shape. December–March is peak season — book 60–90 days ahead for Punta Espada tee times. May–October offers lower green fees and quieter courses with occasional afternoon rain.
Step 2: Book Your Villa
Book accommodation before tee times. Villa Espada on Fairway 5 of Punta Espada is the top choice — member tee time rates, walking distance to the course, private chef, and full staff. For 4–8 golfers, per-person costs are competitive with premium hotels. Villa staff handle all tee time logistics once booked.
Step 3: Fly into PUJ
Fly into Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) — 15 minutes from Cap Cana. PUJ has 50+ direct routes from US and Canadian cities on American, JetBlue, Delta, United, Air Canada, Southwest, and others. Flight time is 3–4.5 hours from most East Coast cities. Villa Espada arranges private airport transfers.
Step 4: Build Your Golf Itinerary
- Punta Espada (must-play): Jack Nicklaus, 8 ocean holes. Play at least twice — the wind changes everything between rounds.
- Las Iguanas (Cap Cana): Nicklaus's newest Caribbean design. Opened 2025. A different character from Punta Espada — play both.
- Teeth of the Dog (day trip): Pete Dye's #1-ranked Caribbean course at Casa de Campo. 90-minute drive — villa staff arrange everything.
- La Cana (nearby): P.B. Dye, 4 ocean holes. 15 minutes from Cap Cana. Excellent value companion course.
- Corales (nearby): Tom Fazio, dramatic island-green finish. 20 minutes from Cap Cana.
Step 5: Beyond the Course
Cap Cana offers world-class non-golf activities: Juanillo Beach, the Cap Cana Marina, deep-sea fishing, Scape Park adventure park, and some of the best dining in the DR. The villa's chef handles most meals, but Marina restaurants and local spots are worth exploring on rest days.
